1914

Over a century of style.

A small shop of just 20 square metres, a charming lounge offering real treasures of refinement and taste, opened in Naples in 1914 on one of the most beautiful seafronts in Italy, a promenade for Neapolitan high society.

1930

A little corner of England in Naples.

E. Marinella was born with the intention of recreating a “little corner of England in Naples”, as Matilde Serao wrote. Eugenio Marinella was the first to travel to England to import the finest fabrics, such as hand-printed silk and the iconic products of the time: Aquascutum raincoats, Floris and Penhaligon’s perfumes, Brics umbrellas,J&W Dawson shoes and Lock & Co hats.

1940

The first workshops.

Eugenio Marinella created two tailoring workshops: one for the creation of custom-made shirts and a second for the production of bespoke ties. In fact, during the early years, it was the perfect and flawless starched shirts that made the brand famous, a hugely successful product in great demand for black-tie and formalwear.

1960

Ambassadors around the World.

Over more than 100 years of history, the E. Marinella tie has become renowned, adorning the necks of famous Italian personalities who have indirectly become ambassadors of the brand worldwide.

The first President of the Republic, Enrico de Nicola, during his term, would gift Heads of State a special box containing five ties from the Neapolitan Maison.

From the Kennedy family onwards, the E. Marinella tie became a favorite among the residents of the White House as well as the Élysée Palace.

King Charles III of England wears a tie from the 1948 Archivio collection, the year of his birth, chosen by his wife Camilla during a visit to the Riviera di Chiaia store in 2017.

1990

Expressly for E. Marinella.

The silks used for the iconic ties and other silk accessories are hand-printed exclusively for E. Marinella using traditional methods. The printing is performed with millimeter precision, thanks to screens engraved by skilled artisans. The silk undergoes an extra washing treatment, transforming the process into a ritual that gives the fabric an irresistibly delicate luminosity.

2000

Craftsmanship.

The ties, along with other silk accessories, are handmade in the Maison's tailoring workshops, where each morning the magic of true Neapolitan craftsmanship comes to life, creating the most beloved accessories for elegant men.

2004

For Men.

E. Marinella is renowned not only for its ties. The range of products includes various accessories and garments for men such as shirts, cufflinks, suspenders, watches, and a wide array of leather bags and accessories, while silk products remain central to the offering.

2010

For Women.

The first product tailored for the female world was the silk scarf adorned with sophisticated prints, often depicting the landscapes of Naples and its symbols. Over time, the women's accessories line has expanded not only within the realm of silk accessories but also includes leather items such as keychains, wallets, and bags, ranging from mini to shopping sizes.

2015

Not only Naples…

The E. Marinella brand, which until 2000 was deeply rooted in Naples, decided to expand globally. In addition to the historic boutique on Via Riviera di Chiaia, E. Marinella stores have been open since 2002 in Milan, Rome, Turin, London, and Tokyo. E. Marinella products can also be found in major department stores such as Bergdorf Goodman in New York, Le Bon Marché in Paris, and Santa Eulalia in Barcelona.

2017

MoMA of New York.

“ITEMS: Is Fashion Modern?” was the title of the exhibition dedicated to fashion, held at the MoMA in New York, where 111 iconic clothing items from the 20th and 21st centuries were exhibited. Among these, as the pride of Made in Italy, were E. Marinella ties.
